The Detroit Tigers and Baltimore Orioles will face off in game 2 of a 4 game series on Friday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Tigers and O’s opened the series on Thursday night with the Tigers jumping on a 1 game lead in the series, winning 7-5.  The Tigers launched back to back home runs in the 1st inning before a hour long weather delay.  The O’s fought back but could never get back in the game.

Both of these teams are trying to fight their way back into the playoff picture.  Both are within a striking distance of finding their way into the playoff hunt but can only afford a handful more losses.

Tigers Heavily Relying On Justin Upton

The Detroit Tigers are 50-57 on the year and are 8.5 behind the Cleveland Indians for the top spot in the American League Central Division. The Tigers have gone 23-32 on the road this year and are 13-11 against teams from the American League East Division.  The Tigers are on a 3 game win streak and are 5-5 in their last 10 games.

The Tigers currently have a -23 Run Differential, scoring 519 runs but allowing 542 runs.  The Tigers are 5th in the American League in Team Batting Average with .260 and are 6th in the AL in Runs Scored but they are also the second worst team in the American League for Team ERA at 4.85 ERA.

On Offense, the team is led across the board by Justin Upton. Upton is batting .279, has hit 18 home runs and has hit 69 RBI’s.

Orioles Still Have Playoff Hopes

The Baltimore Orioles are in 4th place in the American League East Division but thanks to the top 3 teams in the division failing to go on a win streak, the O’s are still within a striking distance of the AL East. They are currently 53-55 and are only 6.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox.

The O’s are a completely different team when they are playing at home vs. playing on the road.  At home, they are 33-22, while on the road they are 20-33.  This game is being played at Camden Yards so they will have a big advantage.

O’s Move One Step Closer To AL East Leading Red Sox

The Baltimore Orioles are only 3.5 games back of the wild card but still believe that they can get back in the hunt for the divisional title.  They are playing really good ball right now with a decent pop coming from the offense.  This team is going to fight, kick, scream and play some of the season over the next 2 months to get the chance to play in October.

Pick: Baltimore Orioles -127 for 3 Units
