NCAA Football Preview: Miami Hurricanes at Nebraska Cornhuskers

On Saturday night, the Miami Hurricanes will take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in one of the premiere games in Week 4 of the college football season. The Hurricanes are part of the Atlantic Coast Conference and are 2-1 on the season. Miami has won two in a row since their season opening loss at the Louisville Cardinals. Miami beat Florida A+M and Arkansas State, scoring 41 points in both games. For Nebraska, they are part of the Big 12. The Cornhuskers appear to be one of the favorites in the Big Ten West Division. Nebraska has won their first three games, but needed a late touchdown to defeat McNeese State on September 6th. The other two wins for Nebraska came over Florida Atlantic and Fresno State.

The Cornhuskers are one of the top offensive teams through the first three weeks of the season. Nebraska has put up 55 points twice already this season. Through two games, Nebraska ranks 10th with 47 points per game. The quarterback play for Nebraska has been solid with Tommy Armstrong Jr with over 700 passing yards and 7 touchdowns. The run game has also been good for the Cornhuskers, as they are averaging 324 yards per game. Armstrong has been part of that offense as well, rushing for 258 yards and 2 touchdowns thus far. Ameer Abdulah has led the way with 57 carries and 396 yards and 3 touchdowns. Nebraska will start Big Ten play following this game, as they host the Fighting Illini of Illinois. The Cornhuskers will not face a ranked foe until October 4th at Michigan State.

For Miami, following their loss to Louisville, things have gone well. The Hurricanes have been able to move the ball well, and keep opponents out of the end zone. The Hurricanes are led by quarterback Brad Kaaya, who has completed 45 of 75 yards for just shy of 700 and 7 touchdowns. Miami ranks 35th in the country defensively, allowing just shy of 20 points per game on the season. The Hurricanes are playing their second road game of the season. Following this game, Miami will take on Duke, Georgia Tech and Cincinnati, before going on the road at the Virginia Tech Hokies.

We are really excited about this game. Two teams from power conferences will get together in a game featuring two different styles of football. The Cornhuskers and Hurricanes are both in need of finding a signature win, and this would be it for both teams. The total for this game is set from Vegas at 55, which is a number we feel will go over. We feel both of these teams will put up 30+ points in this game. The spread for the game is Miami +8, which means the Hurricanes are an underdog on the road. The Big Ten just has not been very good, which makes it very difficult to trust a team from that conference, even at home. We are going to bet on the Miami Hurricanes +8 on Saturday night over the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
